(Not) In The Trenches
Elsa Hosk Is The Newest Member Of Kendall Jenner’s Trench Coat Brigade
According to the supermodel, this is the one wardrobe must-have.
As a model for some of the world’s top brands and owner of the eponymous ready-to-wear label Helsa Studio, Elsa Hosk has practically unlimited access to chic clothes. Despite endless options, she often returns to basics in her own day-to-day life, and has a tip for anyone looking to build the perfect wardrobe.
“If there’s one item everyone should have in their closets, it’s a classic trench coat,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories on Monday, March 30, to accompany her latest outfit post. She didn’t keep curious shoppers hanging either; she told them exactly where to get one: Burberry.
Elsa’s Quiet Luxury Staple
Trench coats have long been an “old-money” staple, but thanks to the rise of the quiet luxury aesthetic, the outerwear style was reinvigorated in a slew of versions, colors, and lengths. Hosk, for example, rocked a shorter iteration in her latest ‘fit pics.
She wore a hip-length trench in a classic khaki shade and completely fastened the double-breasted style. The former Victoria’s Secret angel also took the item’s detachable belt and looped it around her hips to hang drop-waist style. The belted look is a massive trend this spring, especially one that hangs low on the body, so Hosk’s styling felt extra timely.
She completed the look with nondescript neutrals, including brown pants tucked into similarly hued riding boots, as well as a cream headscarf and ivory handbag.
She’s Inducted Into An Elite Group
Hosk’s recent ‘fit practically inducted her into Burberry’s iconic trench squad.
Early this month, to celebrate the brand’s 170th anniversary, Burberry released a massive-scale campaign titled “The Trench, Portraits Of An Icon.” It brought together a whopping 23 celebrities from fashion, film, music, and sports, including Kendall Jenner, Kate Moss, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Teyana Taylor, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Jonathan Bailey, among many others. All of them wore versions of the trench, which has become a symbol of British culture, and were snapped in black-and-white photos.
Your Closet Must-Have
If Hosk says everyone needs a trench coat, who am I to disagree? If you don’t have one yet, this is your cue to swipe that credit card. Hosk’s exact Burberry style goes for $2,850, but there’s also a gamut of more budget-friendly options.
As far as styling tips go, consider a shorter trench for a fresher, more spring-appropriate vibe. You can also play with your belt à la Hosk and wear it low on your hips for a 2026-approved look, or ditch it altogether and keep it open for a more effortless, cool-girl feel.
