Sunflower Nails Are The Summer Manicure Loved By Kendall Jenner
Here’s how to achieve the look at home, according to TikTok.
When you think of summer, it’s hard not to imagine sunshine, clear blue skies, and sunflowers. With how much joy and energy they bring, it’s no wonder that the #sunflowernails hashtag has amassed over 2.5 billion views on TikTok. Supermodel Kendall Jenner has long been a fan of the summery nail art design, since she posted an image of her sunflower manicure back in 2019, created by her longtime favourite nail salon, Modern Pamper Salon. If you’re looking to switch up your nail designs from either milky white or colourful ombré nails, then take notes from some of the TikTokers below to inject some summery joy into your nail routine.
To achieve a more realistic look, you can opt for a 3D sunflower nail design, like the ones created by TikToker @lulusmagicalnails. The nail artist used a bright neon orange polish on coffin shaped nails before dotting brown disk flowers across the nail. She then painted on realistic-looking petals in a bright yellow shade, before finishing the look with nail glitter to adds some sparkle.
TikToker @alanna.does.nails shows a technique for those looking for a more effortless and simple look. In her video, she paints her nails black, then uses a dark yellow polish for the petals, followed by a lighter shade of yellow to add dimension. Then she uses a brown polish to paint the sunflower’s disk to complete the look.
If you’re a nail art aficionado, then you can opt for a watercolour-inspired design using a clear base colour, followed by white and yellow petals detailed with brown strokes for a more realistic look. TikToker @nailsbylilypad then dots the middle using a brown polish for the inner flower, and a warmer red-brown shade for the outer flower.
For those of us who don’t have surgeon-like steady hands that are often required for intricate nail art, stickers may be the way to go. Shein offers easy-to-use Sunflower Print Sheets, 75p, that can easily be placed on your nails. First apply a base colour then let it dry, then cut the decal to your desired size and place in water for 15 seconds. Slide the decal off the backing paper and place it onto your nails. Once dry, you can top it off with a top coat.
