The 2016 Met Gala rocketed past us in a flurry of excitement, glamour, and stunning futuristic fashion. This year's theme — based on the theme of the Met Costume Institute's fashion exhibit running from May 5 to Aug. 14 — was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Although the theme sounds like something from a sci-fi movie, the Met Museum describes the exhibit's theme as exploring, "...how fashion designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear." The exhibition is all about showcasing avant-garde machine and hand processes from the birth of haute couture in the 19th Century, up to the present day.

Of course, the Met Gala is a fashion forward ball after all, so this theme was taken with a pinch of salt and pushed to the extreme. Ethereal robotic fashion was everywhere. Co-host Taylor Swift wore a silver, scaly, cut-out dress resembling a Mother of Dragons, Emma Watson's eco-friendly Met Gala dress was made from sustainable materials including recycled plastic bottles, and Claire Danes' glowing gown looked like something a space age Cinderella would wear to the ball. The fashion was phenomenal this year.

So if you want to look totally out of this world too, here are some sci-fi pieces you can wear to look like the most fashionable gal in the universe... Or at least the most stylish space babe on your next night out.
