For the last three months, I was convinced that there was nothing that could top the news that Gilmore Girls would be releasing all-new episodes on Netflix. Four episodes, to be exact. But then, during an appearance on The Ellen Show on Monday, Lauren Graham revealed she would be releasing a collection of essays concurrently with the release of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life — and I just about lost my mind. Because if there is such a thing as too much of a good thing, this would be it. But instead of biting the hand that feeds me, I’m just going to get super excited for double the Gilmore Girls fun, because on Tuesday, Graham retweeted an article proclaiming that her collection of essays, Talking as Fast as I Can, would reveal a number of behind-the-scene secrets from both the original Gilmore Girls series and the revival. So what behind-the-scenes secrets from Gilmore Girls could Lauren Graham’s book reveal?
Honestly, there are tons. After seven years of filming for the original series, a long break in between, and then multiple months of planning and returning for the revival, so much time has passed that there are bound to be a ton of secrets from the Gilmore Girls vault. And considering the loyal fans of this show, I have a feeling that some of the behind-the-scenes secrets that Lauren Graham’s book will reveal will be super satisfying to those who love it the most.
So the following are just a sampling of secrets that the book could dive into.
What Alexis Bledel Is Like As A Mother
Especially for Graham who plays her mother, coming back for the revival to see her on-screen daughter as a mother must have been so trippy.
All The Behind-The-Scene Relationships
Specifically Alexis Bledel and Milo Ventimiglia’s relationship. If she could even give a hint at what sparked their tryst, I would be a very happy camper.
How In The World She Was Able To Talk That Fast
And how long she spent warming up her jaw before a day full of work.
What Really Happened When The Show Was Cancelled
Graham has been open about the cancellation of Gilmore Girls coming as a surprise, but what the cast knew and how they reacted would give a whole new level of insight into the show’s end.
The Road To Revival
How long were the rumors just rumors? When did a revival actually become a possibility? Which original cast members were reluctant to rejoin?
An Essay About Ed Hermann
What would a collection of essays be without a loving homage to Herrmann, Graham’s on-screen father and real-life colleague?
What The Final Four Words Are
If her book came out before the revival episodes, then those four words would be a pretty big spoiler.
How Much Coffee She Actually Drank
And how long it took her to break that addiction when the show finally ended.
I’m just crossing my fingers that Graham’s tendency toward privacy takes a backseat and she dives in deep to the secrets and stories fans would love to hear.
