Lady Gaga's Halftime Show Inspired Political Memes

Given the current cultural climate of America, I expected Lady Gaga's 2017 Super Bowl halftime performance to get a little political. The singer has always been outspoken about her beliefs and stood up for equality for all. Ultimately, though her performance didn't make any overt statements, many of her lyrics are statements within themselves, so it's not surprising that viewers came up with political memes and tweets about Lady Gaga's halftime show. What is surprising, however, is just how funny many of them were.

While many people took to Twitter to commend for Lady Gaga for not being blatantly political, others looked for ways to connect her performance to current events. It couldn't have been very hard, as she performed "This Land Is Your Land and "Born This Way," which contains the following lyrics:

"No matter gay, straight, or bi
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to be brave"

Clearly, Lady Gaga's performance held some political resonance, but that doesn't mean all of the reactions to it were serious. Some fans took to Twitter to make political jokes that pointed out her message while making you laugh.

Some fans imagined how President Donald Trump and VP Mike Pence were reacting to the show:

While others just enjoyed knowing that Pence witnessed it at all.

And of course, people had to bring Tom Brady into it, as Trump has claimed that Brady supports him, though the quarterback has never confirmed this.

And some uncovered the true meaning of Lady Gaga's performance:

You can see the entire performance for yourself below:

If Trump was watching, I'm sure he'll be sharing his own thoughts on Twitter soon enough.
