In the midst of the veritable chaos that is Taylor Swift methodically deleting all of her Instagram posts and tweets, fans are dying to know: where is Taylor Swift? (You know, aside from inside of my heartstrings, ruthlessly pulling them out one deleted cat picture at a time.)
Most recently, Taylor Swift was in Denver, Colorado in the highly publicized assault trial involving radio DJ David Mueller, who allegedly groped Taylor Swift in 2013 and was suing her after he was subsequently terminated from his job when the claims (which he denies) came to light. The trial has since ended, with the jury ruling in Swift's favor.
That being said, it's hard to say exactly where Swift is now — in 2017, it's become somewhat of a running gag just how rarely the singer is spotted in public. Most often, though, when she has surfaced (occasionally with rumored love interest Joe Alwyn), the pictures have either come from Nashville, where many fans have assumed (hoped? pleaded? bargained with their various country-infused pop gods?) she has been hard at work on a new album, or from her home in Rhode Island (which was, as many fans noted, severely lacking in Fourth of July Instagrams this year). Considering the dramatic deletion of her social media accounts the third anniversary of her announcement of 1989, the assumption about her working on a new album might not be too far off the mark.
In lieu of any decisive answers on where Taylor Swift is right now, fans have taken to social media to (justifiably) freak out.
I'd say remain calm, y'all, but that would be the most hypocritical thing I've said all year.
Regardless of where Swift is actually camping out right now, it seems inevitable that she's going to have to unearth herself soon — the internet needs an explanation, and the good people of said internet are not known for their patience. Presumably this social media wipeout, similar to the strategies employed by Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles in the past, means that some big announcement is headed our way. Fingers crossed that it's a new album, because we all need something else to shake, shake, shake to in 2017.
