Have A Slice Of This 'Friends' Pilot Pie Chart

by Chelsea Mize

As an avid marathon watcher, one of my favorite things to do is marathon a show in its entirety, and then watch the pilot immediately after finishing the show so I can see how the show and characters evolved throughout the course of the series. Friends is my number one most marathoned show, and the Friends pilot is always worth a revisit in my book. For those of you who haven't revisited it lately, I have created a handy pie chart of the elements of the Friends pilot so you can get in your daily dose of nostalgia.

It's interesting to look back at the pilot and see how our favorite Friends grew over the course of the show, and yet somehow remained true to who they were. From the very first episode, Ross and Rachel obviously have a connection. Chandler is his usual witty albeit slightly damaged self. Phoebe is strange and wonderful and floopy. Joey is a charming, slightly ditzy ladies man. And Monica is neurotic, energetic, and high-strung.

People tease me often for my steadfast adoration of Friends, and I never take any offense to it, because Friends is still one of the most celebrated sitcoms of all time, and paved the way for many shows that followed in its footsteps. Furthermore, Friends gave us a group of characters we all fell in love with from the start, as you will see from either revisiting the pilot or, if you're looking for a more time-efficient does of Friends nostalgia, checking out out my Friends pilot pie chart.
