The Best Couples Activities To Deepen Your Bond With Your Partner, Based On Their Sign
When trying to dream up the best bonding activities to do with your partner, it's pretty easy to come up short. Once you've hit up all the bars in town, watched everything on Netflix, and gone on a road trip or two, it often feels like there's nothing left to do. That is, unless, you consult their zodiac sign for some fresh ideas.
Whether you follow astrology or not, looking to your partner's sign can help you figure out what they might appreciate, as well as what can ultimately bring you closer together. Are they artsy and creative? Then imagine how much they'd enjoy showing you around a gallery. Are they quiet and reserved? Then think about surprising them with a relaxing get together at home.
It's all about choosing activities that seem like a good fit personality-wise, which is where the zodiac comes in. "The alignment of the stars, at the time of your birth, formed a Cosmic Birth Map in the sky," psychic medium Tana Hoy tells Bustle. "And this Celestial Birth Map not only determined your zodiac sign, but also describes your personality, along with the things you will enjoy." Below, find your partner's sign and read on for a few perfect activities you need to try — all in the name of deepening your bond.
Aquarius (January 19-February 18)
If your partner is an Aquarius, be as creative as possible when planning your next activity. And, if you can, try to keep it a surprise. "The element of surprise will capture [their] imagination," Hoy says. Think about packing their bags for a secret getaway, or throwing a surprise get together. As Hoy tells me, not all Aquarians are expressive with words, so they may not say how much they appreciate what you planned. But their actions (and huge grin) will speak volumes.
Pisces (February 18-March 20)
Pisces are pretty compassionate people, so consider tugging at your partner's heart strings by volunteering together. "You can hardly go wrong appealing to the humanitarian side of your Pisces," Hoy says. He suggests planning a day of volunteering, which will be perfect for your compassionate and selfless partner. And, there's no denying doing something that meaningful together will bring you closer together.
Aries (March 20-April 19)
As certified yoga instructor and vedic astrologer Alexia Neonakis tells me, Aries is ruled by "the flaming fire and impatient Mars," meaning the hotter your date idea the better (wink wink). Aries also love impulsivity, so if you can throw something together on the fly — whatever it might be — they'll be all sorts of impressed. Some suggestions? Dashing out unplanned for a whirlwind night on the town, or exploring a new hiking trail.
Taurus (April 19-May 20)
Taurus is ruled by the solid earth and loving Venus, Neonakis tells me, which means your partner likely appreciates the best the world has to offer. If you two go to the fanciest restaurant, and treat yourselves the nicest things on the menu, you'll both be talking about it for years to come.
Gemini (May 20-June 20)
For Geminis, nothing can beat a comedy show. "Communicative, witty, lively, and intellectual ... Gemini ... will enjoy anything [that] involves quick-wit, laughing, or appeals to [their] analytical mind," Hoy says. Just make sure it's not too crass, as you wouldn't want them to feel offended.
Cancer (June 20-July 22)
Cancers are quite the emotional bunch, which is why you'll want to appeal to your partner's romantic side. While the world is truly your oyster here, consider getting dressed up and seeing a classic movie. Then go for a stroll. "Listen to what they have to say about the movie, too," astrologer Valerie Mesa tells Bustle. "Go to a quiet place where you can hear each other and feel each other's vibes."
Leo (July 22-August 22)
Leos are the warmest of the all the signs, so do your best to be as generous and thoughtful as possible when it comes to dreaming up activities. "Connection and friendship are keywords here," Hoy says. He suggests planning a cookout for your partner and inviting all their closest friends, or mapping out a day trip somewhere new. They'll truly appreciate it.
Virgo (August 22-September 22)
There's no denying Virgos are planners, through and through. So, when heading out you'll want to let them know what, exactly, you plan to do. "Invite them to an interesting night on the town and tell them your itinerary beforehand," says Mesa. Virgos love details, which is why Mesa tells me they'll love going somewhere new, like that cool underground bar.
Libra (September 22-October 23)
Libras are natural charmers, so play to that side of them by planning a day out with mutual friends. A Hoy tells me, they'll really appreciate going to a party or a get together. "You can never go wrong planning anything where lots of activity is involved. A night dancing, a big party, or anywhere where there are people who will make [them] laugh," he says. "Libras feed off the good energy of others." And they'll love sharing that with you.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
If your partner is a Scorpio, get ready to appeal to their darker side. "Meet them at midnight," Mesa says. "Make lots of eye contact. Nightclubs. Underground bars. Whiskey and a little Depeche Mode." (Or whichever band they love.) Share an intriguing night like this together, and there's no denying you'll be even closer by morning.
Sagittarius (November 21-December 22)
For Sagittarius folks, it's all about being modern and current, so consider hitting up a cool event or checking out a new band. "A Sagittarius always likes to be on the cutting edge," expert astrologer Austin Muhs tells Bustle. "They like to be out and about with young people." While, of course, bonding with you.
Capricorn (December 21-January 19)
To bond with your Capricorn partner, choose an activity that will allow you both to relax. As Hoy tells me, a Capricorn will appreciate any activity where they can chill out yet still be social, such as a cookout, museum, or cruise. Even if you're the more outgoing one, planning a low key night for your SO will be greatly appreciated.
After all, occasionally focusing your activities around your partner's likes and dislikes will not only show that you understand them, but sharing in something so quintessentially "them" can definitely bring you two closer together.
