The First Trailer For 'The Hills: New Beginnings' Shows A New Side Of The Iconic Cast

by Kristie Rohwedder

The Hills are back and it's time for a new beginning. On Tuesday, April 2, the first The Hills: New Beginnings trailer dropped with a mixture of old nostalgic footage of the beloved cast and brand new footage of the cast today. MTV also revealed that the reboot is all set to premiere on Monday, June 24. So make a note in your BlackBerry, because missing The Hills' triumphant return to MTV would be a fate worse than combat boots on the beach.

Speaking of combat boots, Justin Bobby, and pieces of technology that ruled the early '00s, watching the new trailer for The Hills: New Beginnings more or less feels like hopping on the back of a motorcycle, hitting the PCH, and hightailing it to Aughts Nostalgia Beach. The preview gifts us with old clips of Spencer Pratt and Stephanie Pratt arguing on Spencer and Heidi Pratt's couch for the zillionth time, Whitney Port resting her chin in her hands, Justin Brescia (aka Justin Bobby) and Audrina Patridge agreeing to just be friends, Spencer proposing to Heidi on a Ferris wheel, and so on. Kristin Cavallari and Lauren Conrad, two of the biggest The Hills legends of all time, do not appear in the trailer. While it is kind of weird to go through a bunch of The Hills clips without ever seeing Lauren or Kristin (hi, they were literally the two stars of Laguna Beach and The Hills), their absence from the preview should not come as a total surprise: Neither LC nor KCav will be in the reboot.

After we see several ghosts of Hills-mas past, the preview cuts to the present. The New Beginnings have arrived. Audrina, Brody Jenner, Frankie Delgado, Heidi, Jason Wahler, Justin Bobby, Spencer, Stephanie, and Whitney are all grown up, and nine years after The Hills series finale aired, they've all reunited for a revival of the Laguna Beach spinoff. The Hills: New Beginnings has also welcomed actors Brandon Thomas Lee and Mischa Barton to the fold.

Six long months have passed since MTV confirmed Marissa Cooper would be joining The Hills reboot, and guess what? I am still not over Marissa Cooper joining The Hills reboot. I doubt I will ever get over Marissa Cooper joining The Hills reboot. It really may not get more meta than "the actor who played one of the main characters on the scripted show that inspired the reality show that spawned The Hills is now part ofThe Hills revival," and I am thankful I get to see it. The moment in the trailer where Marissa Cooper and Audrina Patridge smile and pose together? Oh, you better believe it warmed my heart faster than you can say "Hey, remember Kitson?"
