Your Patronus, According To Your Zodiac Sign

It's been over a week since J.K. Rowling confirmed that a Patronus quiz is coming to Pottermore, but there is still no official launch date. Although the official Harry Potter site is probably the best resource when it comes to identifying the perfect spirit guardian for you — you know, other than actually casting it — have you ever wondered about your Patronus according to your Zodiac sign?

The Patronus Charm is a famously difficult charm to cast and one of the most powerful forms of known magic. It's meant to protect its casters from the likes Dementors, Lethifolds, and other dark magic. When casting the Patronus Charm, Harry Potter's magical protection took the shape of a Stag, like his father's did, Hermione's was an otter, and Snape's was, famously, a doe in honor of his love for Lily. Each characters' Patronus is unique and represents something special to them.

But what if your Patronus wasn't dictated by what's in your heart but rather what's on your birth certificate? Zodiac signs can — or at least try to — offer insight into our personalities, our likes, our possible career choices, our probable vices, and even our love lives — so why wouldn't they play a part in dictating the shape of our Patronus Charms? It's already pretty likely that your astrological sign influences your Hogwarts House, so chances are it influences this, too.

1. Aquarius (January 20 — February 18)

Peacock: Independent and original, your Patronus is as unique as your water carrier sign. A caring humanitarian at heart, you often find yourself inspiring others, just as your Patronus will inspire you.

2. Pisces (February 19 — March 20)

Swan: While your zodiac symbol may be two fish, your Patronus is an animal that better aligns with your sensitive, introspective personality. A creative and empathetic soul, the swan is the ideal protective spirit for a dreamer like you.

3. Aries (March 21 — April 19)

Mustang: Courageous, determined, and passionate, the Mustang is the perfect Patronus for an Aries. Like those people who fall under the zodiac sign, the mustang is full of energy, always ready to race off to the next challenge, and now, always ready to protect its favorite Aries wizards.

4. Taurus (April 20 — May 20)

Golden Retriever: Your zodiac might lead you to believe your Patronus should be a bull, too, but the devoted and loyal retriever is a better match for someone under your sign. Much like you, your doggy Patronus can be stubborn and even possessive at times, but it has a kind, loving heart and is consistently and reliably there for you.

5. Gemini (May 21 — June 20)

Owl: If you're born under the sign of the Twins, than your Patronus will surely reflect your intelligence, adaptability, and cunning. An owl is the perfect protector for someone like you, whose double-sided personality switches back and forth between serious and thoughtful and fun and restless.

6. Cancer (June 21 — July 22)

Cat: Mysterious, moody, and at times skeptical, Cancers most likely Patronus symbol, the cat, shares many of the zodiac's traits. Like Cancers, cats too can be emotional, intuitive, and very attached to those close to them — as well as suspicious of those who aren't.

7. Leo (July 23 — August 22)

Lion: This one may seem obvious, but there is no better Patronus for a Leo than a lion or lioness. Passionate and stubborn, cheerful and occasionally mischievous, the lion embodies the traits of a born leader.

8. Virgo (August 23 — September 22)

Ox: Hard working, practical, and analytical, Virgos need a Patronus who represents the often all work, no play lifestyle they tend to lead. And — much like those who belong to this zodiac sign — an ox is a loyal and practical creature ready to get the job done.

9. Libra (September 23 — October 22)

Gorilla: A creature who enjoys being social just as much as Libras themselves, the gorilla is a great match for this zodiac sign's Patronus. Cooperative, friendly with others, and always diplomatic, gorillas hate being alone just as much as Libras do — talk about a match made in magical, animal spirit heaven.

10. Scorpio (October 23 — November 21)

Polar Bear: One of the most serious of zodiac signs, the Capricorn values practicality, family, and discipline. Like the responsible and disciplined sign, the bear is a strong creature ready to protect itself and the ones it loves.
