Britney Spears’ Estranged Mom Commented On Her “Dream” Wedding Pictures

Lynne Spears was reportedly not invited to the nuptials — like most of the family.

To no one’s surprise, Britney Spears’ wedding with Sam Asghari made headlines — lots of them. The June 9 ceremony included an attempted gatecrash, an iconic kiss (not just the one at the altar), and a star-studded lineup of celebrants that included Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, and Paris Hilton.

Of course, who didn’t make the guest list is just as noteworthy — namely, Jamie Spears, Lynne Spears, and Jamie Lynn Spears (the singer’s dad, mom, and sister, respectively) were not at the wedding, according to a People report, though Bryan Spears, her brother, was invited.

If you followed the saga that was #FreeBritney and Spears’ conservatorship battle, you probably aren’t too surprised by the guest list omissions. During a court hearing last year, the “Stronger” singer said her “whole family did nothing” to alleviate the “abusive” conservatorship — and in a since-deleted Instagram post from November, she specifically called out her mom. “Pssss my dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago ... but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea !!!!” she wrote at the time, adding that Lynne “secretly ruined my life,” and that “my dad is not smart enough to ever think of a conservatorship.” (Lynne has mostly avoided speaking about the conservatorship, though she did tell The New Yorker in 2021 that she was conflicted. “I got mixed feelings about everything,” she said. “I don’t know what to think. ... It’s a lot of pain, a lot of worry.”)

Still, several members of the family sent well wishes from afar. E! reports that Jamie Lynn Spears liked one of the outlet’s wedding posts on Instagram on June 10 — and that same day, Lynne left a supportive comment on her daughter’s own post.

“You look so radiant and happy! Your wedding is the ‘Dream’ wedding!” she wrote. “And having it at your home makes it so sentimental and special! I am soooo happy for you! I love you!”

Though Lynne seems to have moved beyond the November call-out based on her comment about her daughter’s big day, there’s still legal drama brewing between the two. In April, Spears rejected Lynne’s petition to have the “Toxic” singer cover her mom’s court fees from the conservatorship battle, per Variety. “Britney Spears has for decades been her family’s sole breadwinner, supporting her entire family,” her attorney, Mathew Rosengart, argued in a court filing, rejecting Lynne’s request for “more than $660,000” in legal costs. Hearings are set for July.
