Bustle's Editors On Netflix + Harvey Weinstiein

by Rachel Simon

Hello, hello! We're almost at the end of the week, if not quite there, and the weekend is fast approaching. Maybe this one will actually start feeling like fall instead of the middle of summer, eh?

As you prepare for the days to come, take a look back at the news and events that had Bustle's editors talking today, Thursday Oct. 5:

Netflix + New Prices

Uh oh, Netflix fans. The company announced on Thursday that they'll be raising prices for its U.S. subscribers. Reportedly, the $9.99 price will increase to $10.99, and the $11.99 plan will increase to $13.99. The new rates can go into effect as early as November, so prepare yourself accordingly — but who are we kidding, we'll be streaming Stranger Things and OITNB no matter what happens.

Shopping Break: Since you'll need goodies around for Trick-or-Treaters this month (and to enjoy yourself), we found the best bulk Halloween candy on Amazon.

Harvey Weinstein + Disturbing Allegations

On Thursday afternoon, the New York Times published an expose on Hollywood mega-producer Harvey Weinstein, in which decades' worth of allegations of sexual assault against the exec are unveiled. Weinstein, who's worked with actors like Jennifer Lawrence and Gwyneth Paltrow over the course of his legendary career, said in a statement that he's taking a leave of absence from the company, and is working on changing his behavior.

Quote Of The Day: "The balance of power is me: 0, Harvey Weinstein: 10." — Lauren O'Conner, a former employee of Weinstein.

The Nobel Prize + Your Fave Author

Book lovers, this is big: the Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to Kazou Ishiguro, the acclaimed (duh) author of works like Never Let Me Go and The Remains of the Day. You've probably encountered the writer's words before, but if you haven't, these seven Ishiguro quotes will show you instantly why he's the winner of this prestigious prize.

LOL: A woman accidentally bought a very NSFW picture book for her granddaughter, and the story is so, so good.

The Harvest Moon + Tonight

Tonight marks the appearance of the Harvest Moon (aka the full moon that falls closest to the autumnal equinox), and you're going to want to check it out. The last time a Harvest Moon occurred in October, not September, was 2009, so this is relatively rare. Grab some friends, get outside, and check out the gorgeous sight.

Heads Up: Here's how to get free birth control all month long.

Today's WTF Moment: Here's what a full face of squiggle makeup looks like.

What to Watch: Scandal's back, and you won't want to miss it. Tune in to ABC at 9 for the Season 7 premiere of the addicting show.
