Get Kim K's Christmas Eve Braids
After a short hiatus following the birth of her second child, Kim Kardashian is back on social media. Kardashian sported trendy boxer braids to top off the all-black ensemble she wore to Kris Jenner's annual Christmas party. In a particularly "aw"-inducing decision, Kardashian coordinated daughter North West's hair with her own. While it would take a lot more to melt this frozen heart (though Jenna Dewan-Tatum and her daughter managed it recently), even I admit that Kim K and North were kinda cute. Or shall I say... kute.
It's been a busy year for Kardashian. After announcing her second pregnancy with husband Kanye West in May, she's appeared on the cover of Cosmo and continued to film Keeping Up With The Kardashians. She also revealed that she sleeps in her makeup, prompting online the beauty world to frantically Google whether sleeping in makeup is bad for your skin (spoiler alert: it is). With the recent release of Kimoji, a — you guessed it — Kim K-themed emoji set, Kardashian-West doesn't show any signs of slowing down in the upcoming year. Really, the reality star has people paying $1.99 for the chance to use her butt selfie emoji. If nothing else, she's a master of self-promotion.
Whether or not you keep up with this Kardashian, it can't be argued that she is not in possession of some gorgeous hair. Her boxer braids are totally achievable with a little patience and pomade, and since other celebrities have been spotted rocking the look, I'll bet that it's one of the upcoming hair trends of 2016. Take a look.
Let's take a moment to appreciate the Edgar Allen Poe-esque drama of that coat, too. If you feel the hankering to replicate Kardashian's style, here are some tutorials that will get you the look, as well as some variations on the style.
1. Replicate Kim's 'Do
Need somewhere to start? Copy Kardashian's look to a tee with this tutorial.
2. Tame Your Edges
If you've got frizzy hair, taming your edges will help you achieve Kim K's ultra-sleek look.
3. Use Braiding Hair for Extra Length
Got short hair? Kanekalon is a synthetic fiber that's super affordable and perfect for adding length to your braids. And when I say affordable, I mean it.
4. Use Clip-Ins
If you've got a set of clip-ins, they're easy to incorporate into pigtails with a little strategic clip placement.
5. Double Dutch Braids With A Bun
If you've got super silky hair, soften up your dutch braids by pulling on the loops, and wrap the ends into a pretty bun.
6. Double Braids With A Topknot
Topknots are super on-trend, and double dutch braids add pizzazz to the style.
7. A Braided Crown
Having a really bad hair day? Slap those strands up into a crown braid and you're no longer at the mercy of your mane.
