Bustle's Editors On Jeff Sessions + The Beyhive

by Rachel Simon

Hey, hey. Isn't it hard to believe that it's already Jan. 10? The month feels like it's flying by, although with Donald Trump's inauguration coming up fast, I doubt many of us are keen on having it go any faster than it already is. *Takes deep breaths*

Tuesday was filled with news both good (that Beyonce interview!) and bad (Jeff Sessions' hearing, ugh). Read on for more on those topics and the other news that had Bustle's editors talking today.

Jeff Sessions + His Confirmation Hearing

On Tuesday, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions underwent a confirmation hearing to potentially earn a spot in Trump's administration as attorney general. Seeing as Sessions has a less-than-stellar history (to say the least) with women's rights and civil rights, many people are protesting his nomination, including members of a women-led anti-war group dressed as the KKK. The hearing is still ongoing, but here's what'll happen if Sessions isn't confirmed. Fingers crossed.

Your Daily, Miserable Trump Update: It looks like Trump is questioning the safety of vaccines. On Tuesday, he hired Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead a committee on vaccine safety and scientific integrity, despite how dangerous the anti-vax movement is. Ugh.

Solange + Beyonce

It was a good day to be in the Beyhive. It was revealed that the new issue of Interview magazine features a conversation between Beyonce and her li'l sis Solange, about everything from A Seat at the Table to female empowerment to the Real Housewives franchise. #SisterGoals to the max.

Save The Date: Master of None fans, get excited. Aziz Ansari will host Saturday Night Live for the first time on Jan. 21. Hell yes.

Feminist Books + 2017

There's nothing better than a good, immersive book that also makes you think deeply about the world, and these 15 feminist books coming out in 2017 all fit the bill. From Roxane Gay's short story collection Difficult Women to Morgan Parker's pop-culture-heavy There Are More Beautiful Things Than Beyonce, these books are absolute must-reads.

Pretty Little Liars + Musicals

Are you ready for this, PLL fans?! While at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday, the show's producers revealed that there will be a musical performance in a Season 7B episode, which is bound to shake things up. But which of the Liars will be doing the honors? My money's on former American Juniors star Lucy Hale.

Simone Biles + Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Edition

This year's version of Sports Illustrated's famous swimsuit edition is pretty different than the norm, as it features Olympic gold medalists Simone Biles and Aly Raisman. The athletes pose in bikinis, but the focus is on their strength and power, a sentiment echoed by the fact that the photos were taken in a gym setting. Bow down to these awesome ladies.

Meme Alert: A Turkish chef, Nusret Gokce, has been dubbed #SaltBae due to the odd yet sensual videos of him preparing meat (and seasoning with salt, i.e. the reason for his nickname). You'll have to see it to believe it.

Today's WTF Moment: "President of Playlists" — the job Spotify offered Obama for when he's out of office. I mean, he is qualified.

What to Watch: Ready to cry? Tune in to any major network (or stream online) at 9 p.m. to watch President Barack Obama's farewell speech. It's gonna be a hell of a speech, so prepare yourself accordingly.

And after you're done crying over Obama (at least for tonight), watch the latest episode of NBC's This is Us at 10 p.m. to hopefully find out Toby's fate and much more.
