Bustle's Editors On 'Bach' + #ReflectAndResist
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Did you know that corned beef and cabbage isn't actually a traditional Irish dish? I know! My mind was blown, too. But that doesn't mean I won't be eating it today — and probably all weekend long — as I'm decked out in green (don't judge, it brings out my eyes).
But before we all head out for St. Paddy's shenanigans or whatever you have in store for the weekend ahead, let's take a look at what Bustle's editors were talking about today, March 17:
Amanda Seyfried + Thomas Sadoski
Well, well, well. It turns out that Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski married in secret on March 12. Sadoski spilled the good news on The Late Late Show With James Corden, revealing that the couple had eloped in the country, going on to call Seyfried "the person that I love, admire, respect most in the world." I mean, <3. The happy couple is expecting their first child together this year, and this news is just icing on the cake. "I’m more excited about this than I’ve ever been about anything in my life," Sadoski said. "And I’m also more terrified about it than anything I’ve ever been in my entire [life.]"
More Celeb News: Marion Cotillard and her partner, Guillaume Canet, welcomed a baby girl. This is the second child for Cotillard and Canet, who are already parents to 5-year-old son Marcel. Congrats!
Women's March + #ReflectAndResist
The Women's March organizers launched #ReflectAndResist, the fifth of 10 actions in the movement. This latest call to action stresses the importance of reflecting on feminism, but also on the issues affecting the general under-representation or silencing of women of color, women with disabilities, sex workers, low-income women, and the LGBTQIA+ community. The Women's March website encourages participants to "share your own book, article and film selections and let us know how you’re participating in Action #5. Use the hashtag #ReflectAndResist on social media."
Oh No She Didn't: Hillary Clinton subtweeted Donald Trump a reminder that, yes, she could have handled the s--t that's going down right now. See for yourself:
Bachelorette Rachel + Her Guys
Nick Viall's Bachelor season may have just come to an end, but we're already getting sneak peeks of Rachel Lindsay's Bachelorette season left and right. Now, thanks to Bach creator Mike Fleiss, we got our first look at Rachel's cast, and it actually looks super diverse and promising. *Counting down to May 22.*
TV to Look Forward to: According to This Is Us co-showrunner Elizabeth Berger, Chrissy Metz's character Kate will finally get to focus on her career in season 2. Kate's weight-loss journey was the central storyline in season 1, so it's exciting to hear about a plus size character getting to explore other areas of her life.
Liam Payne + Donald Trump
So... Liam Payne claims that Donald Trump once kicked One Direction out of one of his hotels. Yes, you read that correctly. According to Payne in an interview with Rollacoaster, the group was allegedly asked to leave the hotel by Trump after they wouldn't meet with his daughter — because they were asleep at the time. No response from Trump on these allegations just yet, but we can all keep our eyes on Twitter just in case.
Today's WTF Moment: In a meeting today in the Oval Office, it appeared that Trump snubbed a handshake with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Yes, it was as awkward as you're imagining.
