Gretchen Smail

Gretchen Smail is a TV writer at Bustle, where she writes about genre shows, documentary series, and moving, emotional dramas that often shed light on marginalized creators and/or current day issues and inequalities. Gretchen's bylines have also appeared in The Guardian, The Daily Beast, The Hollywood Reporter, IGN, and Nerdist. Much of her work has focused on discussing the positive impact of diversity and representation in TV/film. She earned her bachelor's degree in English from UC Berkeley, and currently lives and works in San Francisco. When not binge watching TV or checking out the latest indie film, Gretchen can be found running to the beach, sipping coffee and eating avocado toast, or attending an arts and crafts fair.
