Wait, This 'KUWTK' Clip Changes Everything

by Jamie Primeau

Just when I was starting to wrap my head around the Kardashian-Jenner love triangle (which is actually more like a love rhombus), things get a bit more complicated. I'm talking about how Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian's relationship plays into the family dynamic, considering how Chyna's ex, Tyga, dated Rob's little sister, Kylie Jenner. By now, the siblings (and siblings-to-be) have taken Snapchats together, suggesting it's water under the bridge. But wait, not so fast! In a new preview for Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian's comments about Chyna totally turn the situation upside down — or at least, they'll shift what you thought you knew about how it all went down.

As seen in the video below, Kim admits that she felt uncomfortable about Kylie dating Tyga. Although the pair has since broken up, Kim still was friends with Chyna when #Kyga began. Umm, can you imagine how awkward that must be?! Having your little sister date the guy your friend just broke up with is a tricky situation. As Kim laments in the clip,

I understand that Kylie dating Tyga completely broke Chyna's heart. I feel for her in that situation. Was it uncomfortable for me when Kylie and Tyga started to date? Absolutely, because Chyna was my friend. But I had no choice but to take my sister's side. That's my sister.

I have lots of thoughts on those comments. First of all, I don't love that Kim turns Chyna's heartbreak into a situation that was uncomfortable for her personally, but I don't think she meant it in a self-centered way. (Although it sure comes across like that.) In a strange way, I sort of sympathize for the 35-year-old for being stuck between choosing family or friends. The fact that Kylie and Tyga's relationship clearly impacted their friendship makes it all the more difficult now that Chyna is engaged to her brother, Rob.

Overall, this totally flips my perspective, because when Rob and Chyna began dating, there were rumors that his family felt betrayed. Probably because of a Twitter beef between Khloé and Amber Rose, in which Rose was defending her BFF Chyna in light of Kylie and Tyga's relationship. This now sheds light on the other side. It turns out Kim is the one who felt like she let Chyna down, and it must have been tough to rekindle that relationship. Plus, it evokes sympathy for Chyna and acknowledges the hurt she must have felt to see her ex move on so quickly.

Luckily, the good news here is that KUWTK is filmed in advance. By now, Chyna and Kim are all good — if Kim's latest comments about the baby news is any indication. At least fans now can get much clearer insight into how things went down. Seriously, I cannot wait to watch all of this unfold as the season continues.
