It's only Tuesday and there are already plenty of updates to share. We've got Starbucks drinks, another terrifying swimsuit, and Bachelor In Paradise developments. We've also got some more serious things to talk as well. Here's what our editors have been discussing on Tuesday, June 20:
Sean Spicer + Body Shaming
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has been in the news quite a bit today. Rumors were abuzz that Spicer might be getting replaced soon; in response to this, White House senior adviser Steve Bannon made a pretty disparaging remark about Spicer's weight. Regardless of how well Spicer is at his job, it's unnecessary to make a fat joke. Period.
Despite the whirlwind of speculation, Spicer was still up at the podium today for his first press briefing in eight days. It is not yet clear when or even if he will be leaving, but in any case, here are Spicer's most memorable moments from his time working for the Trump administration.
Special Election: The polls close tonight for the Special Election in Georgia between Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel for HHS Secretary Tom Price's ld seat. Alarmingly, this is the most expensive house race in U.S. history, and it's an extremely close one.
Starbucks + Fruity Frappuccinos
Starbucks is really churning out innovative flavored drinks this year. The latest to be released are Berry Prickly Pear and Mango Pineapple Frappuccinos. How delightful (and Insta-worthy)! Starting today, these two drinks are available all summer, while supplies last.
Lucky Charms Milkshakes: Yep, your favorite childhood cereal is now available in milkshake form. So head on over to your nearest Burger King (where the drink will be sold) and treat yourself to this oat-y/marshmallow-y/milky drink.
Bachelor In Paradise + Investigation
It's been quite a journey for Season 4 of BIP. Earlier last week, allegations of misconduct surfaced, reportedly involving stars Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson.
Both Olympios and Jackson released their own statements in response to the incident, but today we found out that Warner Bros. has concluded their internal investigation into the matter — determining that A) there was "no evidence" of wrongdoing, and B) the show will go on!
At this time it is unclear whether the two contestants in question will be returning to Mexico, but it's confirmed that Bachelor Nation can now expect some paradise romance this summer after all.
Barbie Is Getting Diverse: Barbie's Fashionista line is expanding to include a whole range of dolls of different body types — a total of 40 new dolls in fact. It's about time Barbie started taking diversity seriously, and this is a significant step in the right direction.
World Refugee Day + How You Can Help
June 20 is World Refugee Day, and it's important for several reasons. Started by the UN Refugee Agency, this day brings awareness to the over 65 million people who have been forcibly displaced, a nearly half of whom are children under the age of 18.
A recent study demonstrates how enriching refugees can be to a country's economy, where the cost of relocation and settlement for refugees is seriously outweighed by their contribution in terms of taxes, spending, etc. There are a ton of thing you can do today to show your support for the initiative.
Today's WTF Moment: Another day, another truly bizarre swimsuit. Do you remember the hairy chest one-piece? Well, there's another, potentially weirder, iteration. See for yourself here.
What To Watch: Pretty Little Liars' second-to-last episode of the show EVER is on tonight. It's an emotional time. But good news, there's a new PLL app that will keep the story alive for a little while longer!
