The '80s are back, baby, and that means perms are popular again. In 2013, perms hit the fashion runway at shows like Marc Jacobs and Lela Rose, and its left everyone wanting some waves in their hair. If you're ready to get a perm, maintenance is key. Here are the seven best products to care for your perm.
I have had wild, thick, dry curly hair my whole life. At worst, it's annoying and at best it looks (and feels) like deliciously healthy beach waves. When you have curly hair, quality, moisturizing products and a great haircut are key. While I can't help you with the latter, I can share some of my favorite products for curls. I like to apply product after showering and ringing my curls out with a soft T-shirt to avoid further damage, drying, and breakage. I try to stay away from water and heat, especially sunshine, which can turn curls into what feels like hay.
So why choose a perm? Whether you have naturally curly hair or went to the salon for your waves, a perm is a great alternative to the constant damage of treating your hair with hot tool products. Plus, a perm will save you tons of time: just wake up, apply some curling cream, and you're good to go. Easy!
Here’s a few of my favorite products to help those curls stay intact:
This saltwater spray is great for fine to medium hair.
This cream blocks UV rays, helping protect and prolong your perm.
Use this hair mask as much as you want to keep those curls detangled and soft.
Babassu oil is great for extremely thick, coarse, and curly hair. The oil will condition without making your hair feel dirty or greasy,
This is another great product with Babbasu oil that will help strengthen your strands.
I love the entire Redken All Soft line for achieving truly touchable, soft curls.
If you have thin hair and got a perm for extra volume, this thickening shampoo will help the cause. The brand claims your locks will be feeling 10 percent fuller!
