11 Dirty Movies On Netflix That Somehow Passed The Porn Censors

The movie's preview on Netflix's homepage might look like your average rom-com, but its description reads like a low-budget porno: "Tired of the emotional hassles of relationships, two girlfriends keep a pair of unemployed construction workers around in a 'strictly sexual' role." The title of this would-be art-house classic? Strictly Sexual, a 2008 straight-to-video steamy flick masquerading as a romantic comedy. It's actually one of the most vanilla borderline-softcore movies available on Netflix, famous for its no-porn policy — these 11 dirty movies on Netflix, parading as actual "cinema," all tread a line between actually having a plot and just depicting people boning. They're misleading — many of the previews for these movies on Netflix's streaming site look like either raunchy comedies à la Will Ferrell or serious romantic dramas like Blue is the Warmest Color, but upon further investigation, they're unrated dirty romps with premises loosely based on those more famous, and often actually cinematic, forebears.

Strictly Sexual isn't even particularly explicit, despite its NR rating. But its clickbait-y title earned it a spot at the top of Hulu's all-time most-watched films as of 2010, according to NPR. In contrast, many of Netflix's similarly titled offerings don't have quite as wide an audience (and possess dismally low Rotten Tomatoes scores), though their premises are equally dirty — and their scenes far more explicit. (Hooking Up, a movie about college boys getting it on with high school girls in graphic style, is somehow a movie that actually got made.) Frat houses, bachelor/bachelorette parties, summer camp, off-limits neighbors — the tropes are well-worn, allowing these movies to masquerade as knockoff romantic comedies while offering something a bit more dirty. Really, 10 Rules for Sleeping Around has nothing in common with 10 Things I Hate About You. This might be your thing — no judgment if so — but you should just know what you're getting into.

1. A Perfect Ending

Wolfe Video on YouTube

The dramatic thrust of this film is given to lines like, "It's important we eat dinner as a family," and, "I spent my whole life trying to be perfect." If that doesn't say it all, A Perfect Ending features the burgeoning relationship between a suburban housewife with a floundering marriage (a friend suggests she take a lover — "a woman") and a high-class escort from a service aimed at "educating" its clients.

2. The Guest House

The Guest House comes from the same production company as A Perfect Ending, which might explain its similarly shaky production values — and premise. Aside from overwrought acting, The Guest House follows a young woman living with her father. When his new employee moves into the guest house, the two women embark on an affair — until her father walks in on them.

3. 10 Rules For Sleeping Around

JoBlo Movie Trailers on YouTube

Two young couples decide to experiment with open relationships. Chaos ensues. It's like an Adam Sandler movie, but with more orgies.

4. Alpha House

The Alpha fraternity and Delta sorority merge, and the men and women battle it out for supremacy in their now-co-ed house. Like Neighbors, but with more topless women.

5. Bachelor Night

ONE Media on YouTube

A similar premise to Alpha House, Bachelor Night features the merging of a bachelor party and a bachelorette party — but the bachelor and bachelorette, on the eve of their respective weddings, make off together to, you know... It's up to their friends to track them down. Raunch ensues. What Happens in Vegas meets The Hangover with a bit of Russian mafia thrown in for good measure.

6. Hooking Up

The full trailer alone is very, very NSFW. Somehow, this movie stars a Tarantino alum (Bronson Pinchot had a small part in the Tarantino-penned True Romance) and the guy who voiced Slash in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

7. The Formula

Joe Clarke on YouTube

A couple of math geeks come up with a formula to "pick up chicks" — and it works. So The Formula is basically a fantasy of what happens when a man gets every woman to say yes.

8. Best Night Ever

Found-footage meets The Hangover — not the first Vegas-set last-hurrah movie on this list — in Best Night Ever, in which a bachelorette goes all-out on her last night of singledom. But The Hangover minus Justin Bartha and Bradley Cooper is no Hangover at all.

9. Eating Out: Drama Camp

Cinemien on YouTube

I could say something absurd about Eating Out: Drama Camp, but perhaps the most ridiculous is that this is the fourth installment in the Eating Out franchise.

10. Angels Of Sex

IFCFilmsVOD on YouTube

A steamy, artfully shot love triangle delicately toes the line between dirty and mainstream with its occasionally serious look at relationships, young love, and fluid sexuality.

11. Cam Girl

CamGirlTheMovie on YouTube

A thriller in the vein of When A Stranger Calls, but premised on a young woman working as a cam girl when an anonymous stranger calls with a list of demands. She must comply, or he threatens to kill her, but she's determined to fight back.

With something like a plot, and maybe even a touch of character development, these movies slip past Netflix's screening process. But with the production values of a B-horror movie and the premise of a raunchy Will Ferrell comedy, these movies might look like something that you might see in theaters. They're not. This has been a PSA.
