23 Movies On Netflix With Soundtracks Almost As Good As The Movies Themselves
Music makes the movie. I'm sure I'm not the only one to believe this but it's true — a good soundtrack can make or break any film. I firmly believe that one wrong song choice can make a great scene in a film utterly corny or horrible. Luckily, there are a ton of great movies out there that have soundtracks as good as, or dare I say better than, the films themselves. There are some seriously great music supervisors out there who know how to pick tunes for films; I'm talking to you, Bridget Jones's Diary and A Hard Day's Night. And there are at least 23 movies on Netflix with soundtracks almost as good as the movies themselves.
No, really, trust me — these movies are wonderful but their soundtracks? Incredible. Don't believe me? Fine, you'll just have to watch these films and listen to their music accompaniment for yourself. I promise I would not lie about this sort of thing. Soundtracks are one of the ten things I take most seriously in life (next to pizza, puppies, and Milo Ventimiglia). And while there are so many great movies and soundtracks out there, this list is strictly limited to what you can stream immediately (as in tonight after work) on Netflix. These are the 23 movies on Netflix with excellent soundtracks.
1. Pulp Fiction
"Son of a Preacher Man," "Jungle Boogie," and "Surf Rider" are just a few of the epic songs on this soundtrack.
2. Love, Actually
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. (See also: So, so much.) This soundtrack is everything: "Wherever You Will Go" and "White Christmas" and "The Trouble With Love Is." I mean, it's a '00s soundtrack dream.
3. Saturday Night Fever
This John Travolta classic has a soundtrack chock-full of '70s disco jams. Don't miss "Boogie Shoes" or "Stayin' Alive." Essentially, it's an ode to the Bee Gees and really, is that such a bad thing?
4. Mean Girls
Mean Girls has a soundtrack that is so totally fetch. No, seriously. It's got "Milkshake," "One Way or Another," and "Rip Her to Shreds," just to name a few.
5. A Cinderella Story
Umm... this soundtrack has its own personal remix of "Beautiful Soul," so quite frankly nothing else matters. But it also has Edwin McCain, Josh Kelley, and plenty of Hilary Duff.
In 7th grade I had a CD version of this soundtrack and played it on a loop. Sorry, Mom. But seriously — "Shake Em On Down," "Down to the Valley," and "Honey" are some of the best songs on the album. Plus, the cast recorded their own song called "Dig It" in which Shia LaBeouf raps. So, yeah, I'd say this soundtrack is a winner.
Even though the soundtrack is mainly instrumental, "My Heart Will Go On" is arguably one of the most famous songs ever so...
8. Legally Blonde
"Perfect Day" opens this movie and right away you should know that you're in for a wonderful film with excellent song choices.
9. 13 Going on 30
It's got everything from "Jessie's Girl" to "Why Can't I" to "Vienna." It's a perfectly eclectic soundtrack.
10. Forrest Gump
Elvis Presley, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Bob Dylan are just some of the greats that are scattered throughout this perfect soundtrack.
11. Beyond the Lights
Cynthia Erivo makes a contribution to this soundtrack so therefore it is the best soundtrack in the history of the world... OK, not really, but it is pretty dang incredible.
Amelie has a gorgeously stunning instrumental soundtrack that will make you feel as if you just stepped foot in Paris.
13. The Holiday
Hans Zimmer crafts a masterful, heartwarming, and utterly impecable instrumental soundtrack for The Holiday.
14. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Finally, a soundtrack for Ferris Bueller's Day Off is being released. Danke schoen, world, for this glorious gift.
15. Begin Again
The songs on the soundtrack are mostly songs performed by Adam Levine and Keira Knightley, but trust me, they're so incredible. This soundtrack is a must-listen.
16. American Beauty
I mean... this soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy so yeah, I'd say it's pretty epic.
17. Almost Famous
I don't really need to explain this one, do I?
18. The Prince of Egypt
The music from this film will give you chills. Chills, I tell you!
19. Across the Universe
These songs are Beatles classics, but the covers of them, and this film in general, are also pretty spectacular.
Phil Collins. That is all.
I mean, duh.
Fun fact: At every party I go to I request that "Footloose" be played, which is probably why I'm not invited to a lot of parties. But aside from that song, there are plenty of other '80s goodies on here that will be sure to make you smile.
23. A Night at the Roxbury
What is love? This soundtrack, for one.
It was hard to pick just 23 but trust me, there are plenty more films out there with soundtracks as wonderful as the movies themselves. But these 23? These you can stream right now. And then listen to their soundtracks right after. Go on, have at it.
